This project involved replacing the old hip tiles with a durable dry system, installing new felt on the flat roof, and carefully crafting leadwork to cap the ridge-to-flat-roof junction. Mortar wouldn’t have stood the test of time, but this long-lasting solution, achieved through skilled lead welding, ensures durability.
It was an excellent opportunity for the younger generation of roofers to learn from the expertise of our eldest experienced roofer , who led the way on this job.

With the heat, we had to be extra mindful of when to point, as the hot weather could cause the mortar to dry too quickly, affecting its integrity. Our team thoroughly enjoyed this job—not just because they saw the project progress each day, but because it was located just a stone’s throw from the popular Ravenshead Cob Shop, making lunch breaks that much more enjoyable!"
